Angela Saxon: Spring Meadow, Warm Springs

Angela Saxon: New Paintings and Drawing Constructions
Warm Springs Gallery, Charlottesville, VA
Opening Reception: Friday, September 6, 2013 from 6-8 pm
The show’s going great, so Barbara Buhr, the gallery owner, is extending the run through the middle of October

I’m so excited for this solo show in beautiful downtown Charlottesville. The gallery is located within the charming, historic downtown walking mall area. I’ll be showing work that developed from time I spend this past spring drawing and painting in Virginia. In my work I think a lot these days about shape and color and the relationship between the two…whether I’m working with things that have names like realistic landscape elements of tree, cloud, sky, lake or in working with things without representative names. In building this body of work, I’ve developed a vocabulary of mark and shape that directly relates to the forms in the Virginia landscape. It has been delightful to me to be able to explore realistic and abstract interpretations of this language. Warm Springs Gallery
