Saturday, April 13,
10 am to 5 pm,
Everyone is welcome!
I’m very excited to share my current body of work: Creek + Waterfalls. I’ll be showing the 8 x 8″ plein air paintings I did on location as well as all canvases, monotypes and graphite drawings I’ve been working on in my studio.
In addition, I’m launching a new part of my studio, beautiful, high quality reproductions of a select work, available for purchase, made in conjunction with Vada Color Graphics in Traverse City. I’ll be offering three 12 x 12 prints on paper specifically for this open house, to celebrate spring! Stay tuned for more details.
In October, 2018 my husband Erik and I spent a bit over a week in Benton, Tennessee, camping at the Chilhowee Gliderport. Erik is a glider pilot and he spent the week learning about gliding along the ridge adjacent to the airport. I explored the Ocoee and Hiwassee Rivers, but on day three I found the Gee Creek Trail…a 2.7 mile hike running along the splashy lively Gee Creek. The trail, closed in by tall stone outcroppings on both sides, gains @ 600′ of elevation, and is full of waterfalls! At the top of the trail, the largest waterfall is maybe 14-18″ tall; the rest of the creek is full of many other smaller falls. The sound is so compelling too. Sitting painting, I realized how often I look back and forth between my painting and the landscape because of the change of the sound in my ears!
